Bill Junkin is Senior Patent Portfolio Manager at Hilco IP Merchant Banking and has more than 36 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, including 6 years in R&D and R&D management roles and over 30 years leading patent portfolio development and management. At Rockstar, Mr. Junkin led efforts to develop and enhance the Nortel patent portfolio through the filing of continuation applications and through the effective prosecution of some of Rockstar’s most commercially significant patent applications.

Mr. Junkin started his career at Bell Northern Research as a member of scientific staff and became an R&D Manager. He later joined Nortel’s patent department and had several patent portfolio development roles in a variety of telecommunications technologies ranging from semiconductor and optoelectronic devices to optical, wireless, and data communications systems, including key management roles during the rapid growth of the Nortel patent portfolio through the 1990s. Mr. Junkin was the Global Patent Portfolio Manager for Nortel from 1999 up to the sale of the portfolio to Rockstar in 2011. At Rockstar, Mr. Junkin continued his focus on developing valuable patents to enhance the value of the patent portfolio in Rockstar’s hands.
